From One Bar to a Movement: The Arm Hang Challenge Journey So Far

What's up, everybody, Patrick here. I'm a Marine with 22+ years in, a proud single dad, and the guy holding the stopwatch every time you grab that bar. It's been less than two months since this all started, so I want to look back at how we got here.
Where It Started
The idea came from Raivis Ordway's Hanging Bar Challenge in DC. I watched people line up to test their grip and their grit, and I thought, we need this at home. So I kept the rules simple:
Hang 140 seconds. Win $140. $25 to try.
No gimmicks, just you, the bar and the clock.
August 23: The First Winner
On August 23, 2026, we got our first-ever winner: Gracie Sanchez, a Lance Corporal stationed at Cherry Point, who hung 100 seconds (1:40) to win $100. A Marine set the standard on day one, and that set the tone for everything that came after.
Taking It on the Road
From there, the bar started traveling.
- September 21, Union Point Park, New Bern: 14-year-old Anthony hung 140+ and took home $140.
- October 2–3, Riverwalk Oktoberfest, Jacksonville: This was our biggest weekend yet. Ian, Logan, Grayson, Harley and Yandel all beat the clock. Grayson did it at just 7 years old with a full 2:20, and Harley went all the way to 2:52.
The Push-Up Clock Is Born
At Oktoberfest we also launched the Push-Up Clock Challenge for a $60 prize. Yosin, Levi, Bernard and Adonis each won it.
Making It Official
On September 30, 2026, I filed Arm Hang Challenge LLC. What started as a bar and a stopwatch is now a real business, and I'm proud of that.
Uptown Greenville Bar Nights
Then we brought it to Uptown Greenville. The Bar Night Challenge runs Thursday through Saturday (weather permitting, no rain), with a family-friendly Sunday event so the kids can get in on it too.
The Uptown crowd showed out:
- Smiley started us off on Oct 9 with a 2:21.
- Spencer (2:20) and Jeremiah (2:30) both won on Oct 16.
- On Oct 17, Mego set a new record at 3:32. Tyler (2:59) and Justin (2:23) won the same night.
- Then 11-year-old gymnast Ellie hung 2:23. She's proof that grip doesn't care how old you are.
By the Numbers
As of today, we've had 15 Arm Hang winners and 4 Push-Up Clock winners. Our youngest champs are Grayson (7), Ellie (11) and Anthony (14), and our first-ever champ is a Marine. Every win was earned on the clock.
More Than a Challenge
The website keeps growing too:
- Winner interviews are up on the site, so you can hear from the people who beat the clock.
- We're featuring the LCpl Dunn family GoFundMe to support one of our own. Please check it out and give if you can.
- We livestream Thursday through Sunday on TikTok and YouTube over Starlink, so you can watch even if you can't make it out.
Merch Is Here
This month we launched the official Arm Hang Challenge merch store right here on Sticker Mule. You'll find stickers first, with tees on the way. Every purchase helps keep the bar up and the prizes coming.
What's Next
Mark your calendar: we'll be at the White Oak High School Food Truck Rodeo on Saturday, November 7, from 10 AM to 2 PM. Come hungry, bring your grip, and see if you can take home $140.
Thanks to every person who's stepped up, paid their $25 and gave it everything they had, whether you made 20 seconds or 3:32. You're what makes this thing go. See you at the bar.
